I’m always looking for inspirations and unique designs for events, so when I found the John Derian Company stores on East 2nd Street I nearly fainted. Known for decoupage and ephemera as well as home accent décor and furniture, these shops are absolute cornucopias of inspiration for event design. What brought me through the door with my eyes ablaze and my camera flashing was a collection of pedestaled decoupage vessels just begging to be filled to overflowing with colorful flowers and set as centerpieces.
But that wasn’t all! They also make beautiful platters perfect for passed hor d’oeuvres, cake stands that would be the centerpieces for the most amazing dessert tables ever, and gorgeous little dishes for dips and sauces.
John Derian’s designs come in so many sizes, shapes, and patterns that they could be used for almost any type of event from a wedding with romantic piles of pink ranunculus to a modern corporate party with generous platters of hearty food.
These small dishes with beautiful alphabet letters would be the perfect touch at a wedding, as keepsake bread plates with the bride and groom’s initials. Or possibly, it would be amazing to use them as makers for escort cards.
Or, how beautiful would these little bowls be for an unusual starter or perfect balls of sorbet on the table at a rustic outdoor wedding? Gorgeous!
Elements like these are what contribute to creating events no one has ever seen before. Beautiful tables and thoughtful design take an event from the expected to the extraordinary!
My ideas are limitless! Now I need the client willing take it to the next level!
