Company picnic is a very simple title and there was nothing simple or normal about this fantastic party! Planned for a company known around the world for being gorgeous, luxurious and fabulous this party was designed as a thank you to their employees and families!
I wanted the party to be a mixture of chalk board graphics, wild flowers and country with some classic biergarten mixed in and extreme attention to detail. My goal was for all 550 guests to fell like every detail was thought of with them in mind- from the snacks on the bus, to the comfort of the tent, to water throughout the carnival space and every necessity imaginable in the bathrooms.
For food I brought in 8 of the top NYC food trucks and build them each booths to work from so they had more than enough space to really show off their skills! And wow did they ever!
First we had Valducci’s Pizza and Zeppoli! Yum! And just for good measure we added homemade sangria! Mike and Margaret baked fresh pizza right under the tent!
For Greek food we chose Kostas and Souvlaki GR! Who brought the best of their menu! Sadly, I’m missing a photo of the Greek Fries- but I have a nice picture in my dreams….
The truck that started the whole lobster craze in Brooklyn is the super famous Redhook Lobster Pound- super YUM!
My friend Denis at Big D’s Grub is so versatile I gave him two spots! From his truck he made burgers of all types and from under the tent he created a fantastic dumpling bar!
I have to admit- we did a lot if food tasting before we chose these trucks but there was no discussion when we tasted Morris’ grilled cheese! If you see them driving down the street- follow them until they stop! Worth every mile!
No matter how fantastic a picnic is, it’s just not a picnic without a hotdog! But no normal hotdog would due!! So we called Crif Dogs of the East Village! We added a little spiked lemonade!
The great team from Mexico Blvd is headed up by a super young dynamo named Jordi! Wow can this kid bring it- and he even made fresh margaritas! People loved it!
What is a picnic without ice cream, but normal ice cream would never due! Grant from Sweetery brought the A- game! Ice cream sandwich bliss….
It doesn’t end there though- I had a little surprise up my sleeve! At 3pm in the afternoon a classic ice cream truck rolled onto the property! Everyone went crazy!
What about the bar, you asked? Besides the parings at the food trucks- we had a bar full of high end beers, yummy wines and all the soft drinks some would would want!
The food and bar was only half the fun! For entertainment I appealed to everyone’s inner kid and real child with an entire country fair style carnival complete with stage shows, acrobats, plate spinners, games, jugglers, bouncy houses, dance parties, prizes, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon art and rides! For all this I went to the REAL party master, Perry Gibbs and his son Corey at Partymaster. They KILLED it!
To add just a little more we had volleyball, lawn games, basketball, bacce and a gorgeous swimming pool!
As if ALL of this wasn’t enough fun- we had a raffle, and not your elementary school raffle! Upon arrival each guest was given 15 custom raffle tickets with their names preprinted so everyone could just pop their names into the boxes. And WOW the swag!
To give back we added a charity arm to this party- each guest filled a backpack with supplies for playground games to be given to an under-privledged kid here in NYC- all together they packed 350 backpacks- not too shabby!
What’s a party without an awesome photo booth? How about a photo booth with loads of props and a huge back ground so 10 people can jump in there together! So Fun!
Last but not least, a fantastic live band! The Bailsman were amazing- bringing the tent a country hipster jazzy vide.
I have to admit this was the biggest and most complex event I have ever planned! And I’m ridiculously proud to say nothing was forgotten or left out- every detail was perfect! I can’t wait to do it all over again!
Thank you to the best clients on Earth for letting me go wild on their picnic and taking it to the NEXT level!
Thank you to the gorgeous Kari Otero and her fantastic side kick Courtney for literally being everyplace with their cameras!
And to my amazing staff for busting their buts for HOURS and never getting tired, never complaining and never losing their smiles- from dancing with guests to 11pm at Manhattan Mini Storage! THANK YOU!
PS- I just can’t help getting on the dance floor when I love an event this much!!
